After installation of Categorize Plus I have two files on my desktop. Menus.xml and Menus.bak.xml, when I delete them Categorize Plus starts to complain. Is it possible to put these files somewhere else?

Hello,

I am sorry that you are experiencing a problem.  For reference, both the "Menus.xml" and "Menus.bak.xml" files contain the menu data that is used by Categorize Plus to create each users customized drop down menus.

The only way that I know of that these files would appear on your desktop is if you had selected the "File" -> "Save as ..." option in the Menu Builder and then chose to save the file on your desktop.  Is this by chance what happened when you were running the "Trial" version of Categorize Plus?

Anyway, I noticed that you have recently purchased a license to the Standard Version of Categorize Plus.  Therefore, the easiest solution now is to simply delete your existing Categorize "Settings.xml" files in order to return Categorize Plus to the original default settings.  Therefore, please follow the process listed below.

  • Shut down Outlook.
  • Find and delete the following two files

    If using Win XP:
    %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\VeranoSoft\Categorize Plus\Settings\Settings.xml
    %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\VeranoSoft\Categorize Plus\Settings\Backup\Settings.xml

If using Vista and Win 7:
    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\VeranoSoft\Categorize Plus\Settings\Settings.xml
    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\VeranoSoft\Categorize Plus\Settings\Backup\Settings.xml

  • Restart Outlook.

In addition, in the future I will also modify the Standard Version to automatically move the "Menus.xml" to the default folder whenever users elect to install the Standard Version.

Let me know if you have any trouble with the steps above.

Best regards
